Pocket Neighborhoods Share Dreams

Many of us can envision our dream home, down to the number of bathrooms or the size of the closets. More and more, however, Americans are ditching the 5 bedroom mentality and going towards something more attractive: a dream neighborhood.

Pocket neighborhoods are communities built around one shared space (a garden, an alley, a small park). Here, neighbors share that space as their own, but also have the privacy of their own (albeit smaller) home.

These neighborhoods are built around the fact that humans are social creatures who seek out a sense of community. Families, retirees, and young couples across America are embracing this idea and falling in love with their dream neighborhoods (and neighbors).

As the city of good neighbors, perhaps Buffalo already had this idea a long time ago. It would certainly be interesting to see what type of “pocket” neighbors could share in Western New York.
