Cheektowaga Electronic Waste Drop-off

In an effort to deter illegal dumping, Cheektowaga highway superintendent Mark Wegner recently announced an electronics drop-off program for residents to safely dispose of electronic waste.

This new service will be made available to all residents, given they register their items and show proof of residency, and non-residents will be charged an additional $10.00 fee. Hours of operation will be from 9am-1pm Monday through Thursday and 9am-noon on Fridays at the Cheektowaga Highway Department located at 3145 Union Road.

In general there will be no charges incurred when dropping off items, with a few exceptions:

  • Flat Panel Monitors – $15.00
  • Flat Panel Television – $30.00
  • CRT Monitors – $30.00
  • CRT TV less than 27” – $30.00
  • CRT TV larger than 27” – $50.00

The department advises however that this new program does not replace the current garbage pickup of large appliances such as microwaves and metals, and that the sanitation department needs to be made aware 24 hours prior to putting these items curbside for collection.
